Helicopters With My Son

Not too long ago we we were on the way to Florida for our trip to Disney and out of nowhere came a helicopter. It landed next to us in a field by a little booth and I saw that it was helicopter rides. My son was amazed by the thing and started asking about all of the different things on it and where did they get all of those helicopter parts and were the helicopter blades sharp? Is there a helicopter mechanic that does all of the helicopter repairs? He was excited.

When we got back off of our vacation, I went down to a hobby store and picked up a little remote control helicopter for beginners. We had a blast trying to get this thing to work….It would take off straight up and then do thirty circles. We tried and tried to get this thing to trim but never could . So eventually we were looking for a helicopter repairman ourselves. We never got it going good but as he gets a little older now he is getting pretty gadget smart so we will be getting another remote control helicopter and the way he acted around the real one…I would not be surprised if he flies a real one one day!

  1. Our 4yo son loved flying my R/C aircraft! We busted a ‘copter, crash-landed a small plane and destroyed a Blue Angel C-130 ‘Big Bertha’ this summer (was stuck in a tree, the destruction came when I tried to recover it)

Joey and I love aviation, and he says he wants to be a pilot when he grows up. They’re fascinated at that early age…but then they realize how crummy of a job it can be and get real careers…too bad, I was looking forward to the free tickets!

  2. I have been meaning to pick up one of those remote helicopters to use with my kids.

My son will go nuts for it.

  3. Boys and their machines…our sons get so excited any time my husband brings home and “toys” from his work that were either getting thrown out or were promotional “toys” given to him(My husband works at a hobby shop as the buyer). Some things may sit for awhile if my husband thinks that the boys are not ready (still too young) and they will oogle after it. But some of those things especially the remote airplanes and helicopters are expensive to fix if they crash and you know they’ll crash.

Life with boys is always interesting…Glad you had fun with your little boy.
