^ BIG DADDY ^
OK…so I have been on this weight loss kick lately because let’s face it…I do not go by the name Big Daddy for nothing. My worst weight was 342 pounds and that was just at the last week of July. I quickly realized that my kids were going to end up without a father and my wife was going to be a single mother if I did not change things and fast! So I have been working on the issue and so far I am down to 290 pounds and going strong.
I started out battling my number one most favorite thing in the world Diet Mt. Dew….I was addicted to that more than I was food. Since I dropped the Dew, I have had nothing but water since the end of July. I also changed the way that I eat and how much that I eat. I have done things like, changing to Turkey bacon, wheat bread, veggies, turkey hot dogs even. I am on a 1200 calorie-ish diet. By calorie-ish I mean that I aim for 1200 calories but I do not beat myself up if I am under or over that for the day. I eat a good breakfast, have a snack later in the morning, a light lunch, another 100 calorie snack, and then 300 to 400 calorie dinner all with water to drink. Don’t get me wrong, it was very hard at first but I decided to start walking to occupy the time that I would be snacking.
When I first started walking, I went 1.8 miles and thought that my heart was going to beat out of my chest. I went back though!!! I walked the same for a week and then I started walking faster and longer. There was one day that I walked 7.2 miles and loved it. My son started walking with me and sometimes my wife and daughter join. It makes the time go by when we are talking about the events of the day and plans for the week. One day I was out there and saw someone bigger than me running…..I thought….you had better slow down big guy because you are gonna pass out right here and I can’t carry you!!! BUT….he kept running and it motivated me to start as well. Kas and I had talked about running but in my mind, I never could se how that I could get to that point. I was wrong again!! I have been running timed runs where I started out running 5 minutes in between several minutes of walking and just 4 weeks later, I am running 20 minutes of my 30 minutes. I feel amazing!! Remember, I still have a long way to go….I am 290 pounds but I am running like I was in shape but really I am now just an active couch potato….LOL….I was an athlete in School and throughout my childhood. I just want my family to see that Big Daddy. They never have…BUT….they will!!
