Wondering What It Would Be Like

Wondering what it would be like if my dad were still around. Would we be hanging out all of the time? Would my son hang on his every word? Would my daughter climb on his knee and hug his neck tight while he gives her a dollar for the snack machine? I wonder how our family would be if things were different.

I’m also wondering what it would be like if loved ones in the family didn’t have so many demons. Could we all just have one of those Leave it To Beaver families? I wonder if our family reunions would be just over the top. My children may grow up to know a huge loving family like I had as a child.

I’m wondering what it would be like if I had moved to California that time. Would my heart lead me back to my soul mate and we have the children that we do now? How would that all work out?

I’m wondering what it would be like if I had stayed at that job back in the early ninety’s. How far would I have gone with that company? Things may really be different for me now. Things may really be different for my family.

I’m wondering what it would be like….BUT…as far as my life goes…I wouldn’t change a thing!

  1. When I begin to ‘Wonder’ I stop. I think if the past changed I may not get to have my amazing present or future!

  3. One of the most destructive phrases in the language is “What if…”. And I struggle with it. I sometimes wonder what it would have been like had I made different choices. And each time I do I get really depressed. I have to keep reminding myself, “don’t focus on what can’t be changed. Only on what I can do now”. And it really helps.

  4. It’s hard to think about the what ifs sometimes. I have to stop myself before I get to far and remind myself of everything I’m grateful to have. I doubt life would be the same if I made some of the decisions I still think about now.

  7. Playing the “what if” game keeps you from focusing on the present, and ultimately the future. Let it go for yourself and for your family. πŸ™‚
