So… I am. Last year I had surgery and stayed in the hospital for a few days afterwards. I decided, with the help of my surgeon telling me that I could stand to lose a few pounds, that I was finally going to do something about it. I did!! I cut my calories, I walked everyday, I even started running. My regular doctor took me off of two of my blood pressure pills and I felt great!!! I lost around 60 pounds…But then….I had another surgery, then another, and then another. It gave me an excuse to lounge around and eat what I wanted while I recovered. Man I am such an idiot!! All of the hard work and pride for what I accomplished went down the drain. I was embarrassed and ashamed of gaining the weight back.

A group of dad bloggers that I met through a Facebook group have decided to get together and challenge each other to a healthy lifestyle. I am excited to be a part of it and ready to get started. We are starting August 1st and ending at the beginning of January 2014. We are all trying to attend DAD 2.0 and share our success. Everyone will be updating on a regular basis and you can track my progress on my blog and through Facebook and Twitter. We could all use your support and I could use your encouragement as I embark on this weight loss extravaganza!!

  4. I went to retweet this post and I thought you were talking about me. I’m already on a “plan” and went to Baskin Robbins after the gym. The cheaper ice cream has less calories says the voice in my head. It’s the Haagen Daz’s of the world that are bad for us dieters!
But it all boils down to marketing. As the guy in the sneaker store said to me once as I was buying fat guy New Balance sneakers, this style is for guys with a football players build. That’s us B!
