It Was the middle of December in 1999. The Tennessee Titans were 11-3 going into the game with The Atlanta Falcons. The Titans were on their way to the Super Bowl that year against The St. Louis Rams. There was an electricity in the city like no other time in history. It was the first season in Adelphia Coliseum and there was a rookie like no one had ever seen. The FREAK!!! Jevon Kearse out of Florida was there and he could not be stopped. This guy was on his way to 14.5 sacks his rookie year and the pro bowl. I watched him jump over offensive linemen to get into the backfield. You could here him crushing whoever he hit. I think that I heard a little squeal from Atlanta’s QB that day. I believe that Chris Chandler was hurt and that it was Graziani. Jevon was on him that day. After one of the sacks, Jevon acted like he was on the turntables in the middle of the field. The place erupted.
I was lucky enough to be helping my friend with his cameras on the sidelines that day. I was just a little fellow compared to these guys. I am 6 feet tall and over 300 pounds and I am tiny. I was waste high on some of the linemen. I finally walked up to someone that I could see eye to eye with in Lorenzo Neal put he was just as thick as the rest of those guys. Anyway, after the game in the press room, Jevon came in to do a phone interview and took a quick picture with me….yes even with my Tennessee Vols hat on!! I thought that it was pretty cool of him to do. So, this is my TBT picture this week! THE FREAK!!!
